MY GRANDMA'S ANECDOTE

Every vacation, we visit our father’s home village. Everything we find there enchants us. Our favourite pastimes include a cricket match, a bath in the lake, a visit to all our relatives. But the highlight of our visit is the time spent with our grandmother. She always has a great deal of stories to tell. Most of them are anecdotes from her own life. Some of her anecdotes are often repeated, but still I love to hear them.

At times, when my interest in studies decline, my parents inform that to my grandma. What follows is a good deal of advice that are capable to boost up my energy.then she continues with an anecdote from her own life which has interested me very much. In those days, all girls did not enjoy the privilege of education. But my grandma was one among the few who was able to go to school. But when she reached her sixth standard she found out that her family found it very difficult to afford her school expenses. Her father’s little earned money was not enough to meet the needs of the family as well as for her books. She decided to discontinue her education, and her father was only happy to hear that.

Soon, her life of household works began. She got up at 6 in the morning, cleaned the house and washed the clothes. She also learnt to cook food. Her father was indeed happy with his daughter’s works and congratulated her. She became very pleased of herself. She felt happy that she had left school. The second day too, she got up at 6 in the morning, cooked new dishes, cleaned her house and washed the clothes. She repeated her chores daily. Weeks and months passed. Slowly she began to realize that she had nothing new to learn. Life at home began to be boring. She thought of her school days. At school, she never had to do any of the previous days’ works. Everyday she had new experiences. Moreover she had never felt that school life was boring.

A second thought wanted her to go back to school. She was afraid to present the matter to her father. So, with the assistance of her mother, she, at last persuaded her father to agree. She returned to her school and from that day onwards she studied hard. The problem of money for her books never arose as she copied out the texts from her friends. Thus she studied hard and fulfilled her ambition of becoming a teacher.

This life story of her seemed really touching for me. Whenever studies turn out to be boring, a recall of her anecdote gives me a new inward strength and determination. Maybe, one day, I too will become a teacher like her!!

Why?why did you promise? to be there for me when u dont even remember the promise you made to me.

Scared ...

Scared of the distance Scared of the darkness Scared as the winds blow straight to my face. Scared at the whims  of my own fantasy. Scared of all around me. Scared as I lie alone, Scared of the strange noises blaring inside my head. Scared darling, I too, was of losing you. And all the scares came futile, as scare engulfed me in its depths.

It was all black, it was all dark. I tried to see where it was, light. I searched here, I searched there, But where was the light in me? Then I saw, it was hidden, Hidden in the realms of black. Happily I threw it away, In hope of seeing my light. But what i saw, it was grey!
